Design Technology

Purpose

At Littlecoates we believe that DT is a creative and practical subject. Using creativity and practical skills, pupils design and make useful products and scaled-down models in a variety of contexts. They acquire a broad range of subject-knowledge and draw on other disciplines such as maths, computing, science and art.Through experiencing the process of creating products and evaluating them, they understand the contribution that design and technology makes to society, and consider broader issues of sustainability in relation to their products.

Design Technology at Littlecoates

The Littlecoates Designer develops the skills to research, design, communicate, make, and evaluate a range of products. They build knowledge and skills, which they can apply to a range of contexts in cooking, textiles and construction. They understand the principles of nutrition and can apply this to meal design. They are resourceful and innovative, and they persevere to find solutions to design problems.
