Activity 7 - Traditional Tales From Around The World.

This activity links to Global Goal 4.

In EYFS, we have been learning about fairytales from around the world.

We have been looking at where the stories originated.

Some of the stories that we listened to and learned about were:

  • The Dragon Painter - Based on a Chinese Folk Tale.
  • Beauty and the Beast - French folklore.
  • Little Red Riding Hood - French and German folklore.
  • Anansi the Spider- Ghanaian folklore
  • Tales of the Tortoise - Nigerian folkore
  • Three Little Pigs - English folklore

We even got the chance to act out some of our favourite stories.

We particularly loved listening to "The Dragon Painter", so we had a go at drawing our own dragons and creating our own creatures.

The EYFS children have truly loved diving into traditional tales from around the world. They've had a fantastic time retelling stories, discovering the countries where these stories originated, and especially acting them out.

Reception class also enjoyed exploring stories that come from the home countries of some of our children or their families. This was a really important part of the project, as it helped the children appreciate their own culture and also learn about the cultures of others within the class.
