Activity 8 - Music From Around The World.
This activity is linked to Global Goal 10.
Over the course of the year, we have been listening to and singing songs from around the world.
Each week, we listen to different songs from around the world in our classroom. We have the opportunity to discuss them with our friends and teachers.

Each month, our singing assemblies feature a new musical spotlight. We delve into diverse genres from across the globe, such as reggae and gospel, learning about their origins and cultural contexts before we sing them together.

We've also explored British artists like The Beatles and Elton John, which has provided opportunities to compare British music and genres with those from other cultures and styles.

Our thoughts
Harmony-Rose: I learned that some songs are in different languages and I wouldn't normally listen to these songs.
Cooper - One Day (Reggae spotlight) was different because it was complex and hard to learn.
Eva - I wouldn't normally listen to some of the songs and I've enjoyed learning
Ivan - I've learned about Elton John who is from England and I really enjoyed singing I'm still standing.
Staff comments
This year, leading the singing assemblies has shown me firsthand the children's increased appreciation for different musical genres, artists, and eras.
They're not only more aware of music's origins but also more capable of making insightful comparisons and connections between diverse pieces.
